The very expected game between Mariya Muzychuk and Yifan Hou was the first to finish, with an easy victory of the Chinese GM in 29 moves. This result serves Hou to guarantee first place one round before the end. Koneru was trying to overplay Cramling, but finally she got only a draw. Dzagnidze and Stefanova won their games with the Black pieces against Anna Muzychuk and Khademalsharieh respectively. The Iranian lost her seventh game in a row, a tough test, after her promising start with three draws. Interview with President of the International Chess Federation Kirsan Ilyumzhinov in the Monte Carlo Casino, the first stage of Women's Grand Prix.

Let me congratulate you on organizing such a wonderful tournament in the Monte Carlo Casino. What are your future plans for women's chess?

First of all, I would like to thank His Excellency Prince Albert II, and the Chess Federation of Monaco and directly its president Jean-Michel Rapaire for their work in organizing this tournament. The idea to organize it, was born one year ago, when Jean-Michel invited us to dinner at the Monte Carlo Casino.  I asked him, why not hold in this Casino some beautiful tournament?

Interview with his Excellency Mr. Henri Fissore, Ambassador Adviser to the Minister of State of Monaco
Excellency, first of all, is chess a passion for you?

My real passion is bridge, but I have to tell you I have been always fascinated by chess, however I play chess once or twice a year. It’s a game that I like. It’s a game which makes you humble, where the best always wins, and in the best case we manage to draw. The handling of pieces can be learned in less than an hour and we are still able immediately to have fun. And what is important today with new technologies, young people, themselves may say they can learn chess in very little time.

His Excellency Mr. Henri Fissore

And with bridge it’s not possible? Moreover, you are a top player.

Bridge is much more complicated, and it’s true actually I am an international player. However to learn how to play bridge takes several years.
